WMSL 111
SNU.1,1i MEMO
- MOLTING
2000 Industrial Park Rd S P.O.Box 2720 Baxter,MN 56425
Phone:218-829-5117 Fax:218-829-2517
Date: September 28, 2005 File#: 130B025
To: Pequot Lakes City Council and TH 371 Committee
From: Tim Houle &Mike Rude
Subject: Highway 371 North Improvement Project
The Pequot Lakes City Council, along with some members of the City's TH 371 Committee met
in a workshop on September 27, 2005 at Pequot Lakes City Hall.
The intent of the meeting was to reach consensus as to what the City's position will be on a
number of unresolved issues prior to its next meeting with MnDOT.
The Mayor and all members of the Council were present, in addition to the following members of
the TH 371 Committee:
Mike Loven
Brett Twardy
Dawn Bittner
Sandy Peine
Mark Jurchen
Jerry Braam
The Mayor began the meeting by polling individual members of the Council on what they felt
were the most important unresolved issues to date. The responses fell generally into three
categories: additional access points, pedestrian safety, and speed. The following summarizes the
consensus opinion of the Council in these areas.
Additional Access Points
The City feels that additional access points, particularly in the core downtown area, are
necessary. Specifically, these include:
• addition of a right in-right out access at West Woodman Street
• addition of a right out to the proposed right in access at East Woodman Street
• addition of a right in access to East Sibley Street (Tim and Mayor to discuss this
with UBC and DNR prior to meeting with MnDOT)
• addition of a right in-right out access at some point on the west side of the 1 `/2
mile stretch(that presently has no proposed access)between Morehouse Drive
and C.R. 107/C.R. 168 (Sandy, Tim understood this to be a right in-right out on
the west side, is that what you recall? I don't remember anything specific.)
C:\My Documents\City Clerk\HIGHWAY 37 1\Meetings\092805 Council Workshop Summary-memo.doc
