SPECIAL MEETING OF THE PEQUOT LAKES CITY COUNCIL TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 2005 PEQUOT LAKES CITY HALL Members Present: Mayor C. Malecha, Council Members Greer, Bolz- Andolshek, Nagel, Sjoblad, Pfeiffer, and Ryan Members Absent: None Staff Present: Jerry Braam, Chief of Police; Dawn Bittner, Zoning Administrator; Sandra Peine, City Clerk; Tim Houle and Mike Rude, City Engineers; Brett Twardy, Water/Wastewater Superintendent; and Mike Loven, Street Superintendent Also Present: Mark Jurchen, Highway 371 Committee Member 1. Call Meeting to Order Mayor Malecha called the special meeting of the Pequot Lakes City Council to order at 6:00 p.m. Mayor Malecha indicated that the purpose of the special meeting was to review the Highway 371 layout so that the Council could come to a consensus on the outstanding issues prior to meeting with MnDOT. The Mayor began the meeting by polling individual members of the Council on what they felt were the most important unresolved issues to date. The responses fell generally into three categories: additional access points, pedestrian safety, and speed. The following summarizes the consensus opinion of the Council in these areas. Additional Access Points The City feels that additional access points, particularly in the core downtown area, are necessary. Specifically, these include: • addition of a right-in right-out access at West Woodman Street • addition of a right-out to the proposed right-in access at East Woodman Street • addition of a right-in access to East Sibley Street • addition of a right-in right-out access at some point on the west side of the 1 Y2 mile stretch (that presently has no proposed access) between Morehouse Drive and C.R. 107 / C.R. 168.
