Page 2-Training sessions for Local Board of Appeal and Equalization members
More than one board member encouraged to attend
While the law only requires that one voting board member attend the appeals and equalization
course within the last four years, the Department of Revenue recommends that additional board
members attend the training. It is important to note that the member who has attended the
training session mush be present at the Local Board of Appeal and Equalization meeting. If that
member fails to attend the meeting due to illness or other circumstances, the board is deemed to
have transferred its Local Board of Appeal and Equalization duties to the county. Having more
than one board member attend the course can eliminate situations in which unforeseen
circumstances result in a failure to comply with the training requirement.
Training sessions for Local Board of Appeal and Equalization members
Crow Wing County has scheduled two training sessions.
Instructor—Gary Amundson, Department of Revenue Regional Representative.
Location—Complete details will be sent to you the end of August and will require a RSVP of
intended attendance.
October 20,2005
9:00am-Noon
1:00pm-4:00pm
L
If you are unable to attend the training session in your county or it is more convenient
geographically or otherwise for you to attend a training session in another county, see the list at
www.taxes.state.mn.us/taxes/property tax_administrators for dates, times and locations of
upcoming training sessions.
If you choose to transfer your Local Board of Appeal and Equalization duties to the county,
please return the enclosed form by December 1,2005.
Sincerely,
MARTYNS S.
