City Council Minutes <br /> September 6, 2005 <br /> Page 3of12 <br /> -------------------------- <br /> Terry Curtis of Anderson Brothers was present and indicated that <br /> Anderson Brothers proposing to build Nelson Road going north from their <br /> location and then west to C.S.A.H. #16 to an all season road by widening <br /> and placing a bituminous overlay at no cost to the local units of <br /> government who share responsibility along the road. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER PFEIFFER MOVED TO AUTHORIZE ANDERSON <br /> BROTHERS TO MOVE FORWARD WITH THE IMPROVEMENTS <br /> PROVIDED AUTHORIZATION IS GIVEN BY OTHER GOVERNMENT <br /> ENTITIES WHO ABUTT THE ROAD. COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD <br /> SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 7-0. <br /> 5. Chamber of Commerce <br /> Lisa Paxton stated that she was present on behalf of the Brainerd Lakes <br /> Area Chamber Board of Directors and Advisory Committee. She <br /> introduced Bernice Rohde and Ruth Ann Hanson who were also present. <br /> Ms. Paxton requested the Council to allow the Chamber of Commerce to <br /> purchase the chamber building after the lease is paid off. She noted that <br /> the Chamber would be bound by the terms placed on the property by DNR <br /> which states that the property must be used for public use. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD MOVED TO APPROVE THE CHAMBER <br /> OF COMMERCE LEASE AGREEMENT AS PREVIOUSLY PROPOSED <br /> WITH THE FOLLOWING LANGUAGE: <br /> "WHEN THE BUILDING IS PAID IN FULL BY THE TENANT, THE <br /> TENANT SHALL HAVE THE OPTION OF PURCHASING THE <br /> PROPERTY FOR THE PURCHASE FEE OF $1.00. IF THE PROPERTY <br /> IS PURCHASED BY THE CHAMBER, THE PROPERTY SHALL BE <br /> MAINTAINED FOR PUBLIC PURPOSE AS STIPULATED IN THE QUIT <br /> CLAIM DEED FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES <br /> TO THE CITY OF PEQUOT LAKES DATED APRIL 2, 1999.1' COUNCIL <br /> MEMBER NAGEL SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> There was general discussion about how the City could ensure that the <br /> building would serve as an information center in the future if the Chamber <br /> chose not to have operations at that location. Discussion was then held <br /> regarding how much the City should pay to buy the property back if that <br /> occurred. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER RYAN MOVED TO AMEND THE MOTION TO <br /> \.. STATE THAT IN THE EVENT THE BUILDING IS NO LONGER USED <br />
