SPECIAL MEETING OF THE PEQUOT LAKES CITY COUNCIL <br /> TUESDAY, AUGUST 9, 2005 <br /> PEQUOT LAKES CITY HALL <br /> Members Present: Mayor C. Malecha, Council Members Greer, Bolz- <br /> Andolshek, Nagel, Sjoblad, Pfeiffer, and Ryan <br /> Staff Present: Sandra Peine, City Clerk <br /> 1. Call Meeting to Order <br /> Mayor Malecha called the special meeting of the Pequot Lakes City <br /> Council to order at 5:00 p.m. <br /> 1.1 Pledge of Allegiance <br /> Mayor Malecha led with the Pledge of Allegiance <br /> Mayor Malecha indicated that the purpose of the meeting was to interview three <br /> finalists for the position of Police Chief. Ray Niemann briefed the Council on the <br /> process and reviewed the applications and backgrounds of the three candidates. <br /> The following candidates were interviewed by the Council: <br /> • Jeff VanGrinsvin — 5:30 p.m. <br /> • Steve Mortenson — 6:15 p.m. <br /> • Jerry Braam — 7:00 p.m. <br /> Following the interview the Council determined that the top candidate was Jerry <br /> Braam. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER GREER MOVED TO HIRE JERRY BRAAM, WITH A SIX <br /> MONTH PROBATION PERIOD AND CONTINGENT ON A SUCCESSFUL <br /> BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION, PHYSICAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL <br /> EXAMINATIONS. COUNCIL MEMBER NAGEL SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> MOTION CARRIED 7-0. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD MOVED THAT THE SECOND RUNNER UP <br /> FOR THE POSITION IS STEVE MORTENSON. COUNCIL MEMBER PFEIFFER <br /> SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 7-0. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER BOLZ-ANDOLSHEK MOVED TO OFFER JERRY BRAAM <br /> THE FOLLOWING: <br />
