Pequot Lakes Police Dept. <br /> \., Report to City Council <br /> July 5th, 2005 <br /> For the months of May&June the Department logged approximately 130 ICRs in May and 200+ <br /> for June. Officers also spent approximately 8 hrs. in Court or Conferencing with Prosecuting <br /> Attorneys down in Brainerd during the months. <br /> Officer Hogan was gone on vacation for 10 days in June. <br /> Repairs were done on Squad#1 in May; replacing a faulty light control part(the headlights <br /> would turn off and not work again for hours at any given moment without notice). In June, <br /> Squad#2 had the tie-rods replaced as well as most of the rear braking system, as they are both <br /> worn to an unsafe condition. Other regular maintenance was done on all squads. <br /> Training/Activities: <br /> May 2nd—5th: Officer Nangle attended Crime Scene Investigation training. <br /> May 23`d—25th: Officer Hogan attended Juvenile /Minor Crime investigation training. This will <br /> benefit him greatly as he spends 90%of his time working in and with the <br /> School and students. <br /> In house trainings scheduled for the end of June have been postponed till a later date. <br /> Deputy Chief John Ryan has been working with Stephanie Haider and Roger Lynn for the past <br /> couple months to start up a Restorative Justice Project. Haider and Lynn have been involved in <br /> programs in the past in other areas of the states that have been very successful. They hope to get <br /> one going here in the Pequot Lakes School district area, which would also include the cities of <br /> Crosslake,Breezy Point and Nisswa. Additional information about this program is included here <br /> with the report. The Council is invited to attend the sharing meeting on Aug. 8th. Deputy Chief <br /> Ryan has agreed to volunteer his time and serve on the Board for this program. <br /> The two job openings, for Chief and Officer have been posted in the papers, as well as on <br /> statewide websites for several Police Officer Associations.
