`- AGENDA ITEM #11 .3.
REPORT TO
CITY COUNCIL
Date: June 7, 2005
Subject: Safety Program
Report: Staff(Mike, Sandy and Mark) has been attending
OSHA/safety Assistance Programs put on by the League of
Minnesota Cities. The purpose of the program is to protect
employees and to achieve OSHA compliance. Because a
safety program was somewhat overwhelming to get started,
staff is requesting Council approval to spend $900 to hire
MMUA to help us get started with a City Safety Program.
The LMC is offering a "small city special" for $900. This
entails two entire days with MMUA representatives who
will work with the City to accomplish whatever the City
feels is necessary to get started.
The department heads feel it would be beneficial to begin
by having a mock safety/OSHA audit to get an idea of
where we would be if we were actually audited. This would
to help us figure out where the hazards are and help us to
begin to take care of our safety needs.
