MEMORANDUM
TO: MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
FROM: CRAIG NAGEL
DATE: MAY 39 2005
SUBJECT: WILDERNESS RESORT VILLAS,
Upon reflection and following a meeting on April 13 with Ann Beaver,
president of the Cullen Lakes Association, Jeff Miller, acting as
representative for Wilderness Point Resort, Dawn Bittner, Pequot Lakes
Zoning Administrator, and Tommy Woog, chairman of the Pequot Lakes
Planning and Zoning Commission, I hereby move to reconsider the
Wilderness Point Resort conditional use permit request for a planned unit
development.
In place of my vote for denial I would vote to approve said request, pending
acceptance of an additional condition, the condition being that the
placement, design, and construction of the proposed docks and boat slips
meet with the approval of the Minnesota DNR, and thus minimize any
adverse environmental impacts on Middle Cullen Lake.
It is my belief that the other conditions already agreed upon by the resort and
the planning commission will significantly improve the aesthetic and
environmental quality of the resort and prove to be a net gain for the citizens
already residing on Middle Cullen Lake, and hence for the entire city of
Pequot Lakes.
