PEQUOT LAKES FIRE DEPARTMENT <br /> MINUTES OF THE MARCH 2, 2005 MEETING <br /> The regular meeting of the PLFD was called to order by Chief Nelson, 20 members were <br /> present. The minutes of the last meeting were approved as read by a motion by Oaks, <br /> second by Evenson, motion passed. <br /> Truck checks reports followed. Engine 1 (Peterbuilt)was all OK. The batteries for the <br /> thermal camera were fine. Engine 2 (1995 pump truck)was a quart low on antifreeze, the <br /> air line check valve does not check the air pressure, and the light for the generator <br /> compartment does not work. Tanker 3 is all OK. The van(#4)is missing a throw bag of <br /> rope and the rear lights don't work. The grass rig (5) is all OK. Tanker 6 is missing a 4 <br /> 1/2" storz to 2 1/2" adapter and the tank to tank siphon jet. Jerry Campbell found the siphon <br /> jet and has it. Engine 7 (1978 Ideal pump truck)is all OK. The Breezy pump truck(1975 <br /> Ford) has a rear turn signal that does not work. The Chief mentioned the bolts that fasten <br /> the driver's seat bracket on the van are loose . <br /> The financial report is not up to date as the City has not published a new monthly report <br /> yet. We spent about $2500.00 this past month, so our fire fund balance is approximately <br /> $25000. We had 10 pagers repaired at a cost of$465.00. We received our 2 new rubber <br /> ice rescue suits that were ordered. We purchased needed rope and rope reels for $600.00, <br /> which completes our ice rescue needs. However, we still need 2 more rope reels for the 2 <br /> new rescue suits. Our checking account new balance is $5379.39. We purchased a gift <br /> certificate for Bob &Mary for$125.00, who closed their restaurant for our X-mas party. <br /> We also purchased a gift certificate for Kevin Mahle for$50.00 because he did not bill us <br /> for his training class on building strategy and tactics. We sent Tina a gift package at a <br /> cost of$88.00. We deposited $10.00 for a cap for Bill. <br /> The Moorhead fire school will be March 12`h and 13''. The Duluth School is April 2nd <br /> and 3rd. There are 8 firefighters registered for Duluth already. Anoka Tech is also offering <br /> classes in Minneapolis, near the Mall of America, on April 301'and May 1i. The next <br /> Cuyuna Range meeting will be March 17`h at Garrison. Mark Germain is teaching arson <br /> classes at Brainerd fire station on March I& at 7 pm. These classes are scheduled to <br /> meet quarterly. There is no registration needed for these arson classes. <br /> A letter from Jack Schmidt was read which recognized several years of service for the <br /> secretary-treasurer position for the fire department. He mentioned we don't realize how <br /> many hours are needed for this job. Oscar Gravdahl held this position for 33 years Bob <br /> Peterson has had the job since 1978. <br /> Tom reminded us to help out the Brainerd fire department during their blood drive. <br /> Please don't park in front of the maintenance garage doors when you are at a fire call. <br /> Jeremy will be picking up the 8 foot trailer that is being donated to the department. <br /> Dan reported to us what the forestry grant committee decided to purchase for our grant. <br /> We will purchase 4 Pulaski axes, 1 Mcleod tool (shovel-like tool with a rake on back <br />
