Pequot Lakes Police Dept. Report to City Council April 1St, 2005 For the month of March the Department logged approximately another 175 to 200 ICRs. A couple of the Officers also spent approximately 20 hours in Court and/or with the City and County Attorney's offices,preparing for appearing in court. The Dept. again had 3 to 4 Officers/ Staff out for a few days with the flu during the month. Major Department Repairs/Purchases: The Civil Defense siren was installed. Testing has been done and the siren is completed and running. The siren will be able to be activated by the Pequot Police Dept. and Fire Dept along with the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Dept. The timer will be installed as soon as it arrives to allow the siren to automatically signal noon and 6 pm again as well. A new computer was purchased for the Chief's office, as the hard drive died, with no warning on the old one. The price on the new one,which is a significant upgrade,was less than the repair would have been to the old machine and comes with a longer guarantee. The Police Department section of the City Hall garage area was cleaned up during the month as well as the walls completed, sheet rock taped and painted. Labor was done courtesy of the Sentence to Serve program. Training/Activities: March 8 - 9th: Chief Mark Forsberg attending a training regarding handling traffic incidents and roadway emergencies, down in Shoreview. March 23, 24, 28, 29th: Officers Rich Hogan &Travis Loeffler attended 1St Responder Training, to update their certification, in Breezy Point and here at City Hall. March 29th: Janet Wedan and Deputy Chief John Ryan attended a one day training in Brainerd about Data Practices in Law Enforcement.
