2. May handle such materials as bituminous road materials, sand, gravel,black dirt and salt. <br /> 3. May operate and maintain equipment and tools such as,but not limited to, dump trucks, <br /> pickups, air compressor and related tools, chain saws, shovels, rakes and miscellaneous <br /> equipment and tools as apparent or assigned. <br /> 4. When directed, assists in winter and summer maintenance duties in any of the four <br /> sections of the Maintenance Department. <br /> 5. Keeps assigned supervisor informed of important developments concerning assigned <br /> functions. <br /> 6. Maintains effective working relationships with other employees and the public. <br /> 7. May work weekends and nights as necessary. <br /> 8. Adheres to safety rules and procedures. <br /> 9. Performs other duties and responsibilities as apparent or assigned. <br /> Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: <br /> - Ability to drive maintenance vehicles safely and possess a valid Minnesota Commercial <br /> Class B driver's license with necessary endorsements within six months of employment. <br /> - Ability to read, understand, and follow written and oral instructions including safety <br /> rules. <br /> - Ability to do some lifting,bending, climbing,reaching, overhead pushing and pulling. <br /> - Ability to perform job responsibilities in climatic extremes. <br /> - Ability to perform routine repair and maintenance tasks. <br /> - Ability to readily learn to operate small hand tools and minor equipment such as saws, <br /> trimmers, and riding mowers. <br /> - Ability to work cooperatively as a member of a crew or team. <br /> - Must be able to perform strenuous tasks and lift up to 80 pounds. <br /> - Ability to climb stairs and ladders. <br /> - Ability to operate hand and mechanical tools and equipment. <br /> Minimum Qualifications: <br /> • Possession of a valid Minnesota Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or ability to <br /> obtain. <br /> • Minimum of one year experience in general maintenance work, repair work, and operation <br /> of trucks and other types of equipment used in Public Works Maintenance. <br /> Preferred Qualifications: <br /> • Previous municipal experience in Public Works. <br /> 2 <br /> CAMy Documents\EmployeesUob Descriptions\CURRENT\Maintenance Worker.doc <br />
