D. Performs and supervises in the installation of service connections for city <br /> sanitary sewer and municipal water. <br /> E. Reads, installs and maintains water meters. <br /> F. Maintains and supervises the maintenance of the grounds and buildings <br /> around sewer ponds, lift stations and well houses. <br /> G. Establishes maintenance contracts fro City's wells, pumps and other <br /> related equipment. <br /> H. Performs ISTS inspections as a backup to Planning and Zoning <br /> Department. <br /> 3. Performs personnel activities. <br /> A. Assigns tasks and area of work responsibility. <br /> B. Assists and initiates in employee hiring activities for department including <br /> interviewing applicants. <br /> C. Schedules operators for training. <br /> 4. Performs public relations and communications activities. <br /> A. Receives and responds to inquiries and complaints from the public. <br /> B. Deals with the public in a professional manner. <br /> C. Explains the department operation standards, laws and regulations. <br /> Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: <br /> • Knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques related to the maintenance and <br /> operation of the City's sanitary sewer systems and municipal City wells. <br /> • Ability to effectively communicate effectively with City employees, City <br /> officials,regulatory agencies and the general public. <br /> • Ability to supervise employees and delegate work. <br /> • Knowledge of Federal and State laws,municipal ordinances and regulatory <br /> agency requirements for sewer and water systems. <br /> • Ability to operate sewer rodding machine, various testing equipment and other <br /> related equipment. <br /> • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and to determine solutions to a <br /> variety of operation and maintenance problems. <br /> • Ability to prepare reports and maintain records. <br /> • Knowledge of the operation of a Class D sanitary sewer system and Class C <br /> municipal water system. <br /> Minimum Qualifications: <br /> • High school education or equivalent <br /> • Minnesota Commercial Class B driver's license. <br /> • Current Class C Municipal water license. <br /> • Current Class D Wastewater license <br /> Page 2 <br /> CAMy DocumentsTrnployeesUob Descriptions\CURRENT1Water Wastewater supervisor.doc <br />
