Pequot Lakes Police Department `-- 1 to 5 year Goals February 2005 Due to the continued growth in the area and demanding scheduling necessary to provide full coverage for the Citizens of Pequot Lakes,the Department needs to hire a few part time Officers to cover shifts when regular Officers need time off or have to be gone for training. Work with the Council to ensure that the Department Salaries keep up with and stay in accordance with the surrounding area. This will provide the City the opportunity to keep quality officers on staff. Hire a Female Officer within the next 2 to 3 years. A female officer would be good for community relationships with the Citizens of Pequot. Due to the volume of cases/incidents the department deals with on a daily basis, the Office staff time needs to be increased to a fulltime position. Building up of a medium to large size `rainy day' fund for the Department,to cover emergencies that may arise in equipment replacement needs, staffing needs, etc. Adding 3 to 4 more Civil Defense Sirens to cover the entire area of the City of Pequot Lakes. Finish the Department's Garage and Impound Area, along with the Evidence area. Have a water supply system set up within the Department office area. Implement a squad replacement rotation to ensure permanent and continued quality of the squads to save the City/Department on costly repairs as well as provide reliable transportation for the Officers. This rotation will start with a new squad car in 2006 and a new squad car in 2007. Finalize all computer system upgrades/installations in the office and in the squads,to ensure efficiency of/for staff and officers. Provide digital cameras to each of the Officers to use when in the field. This will aid in improving investigations,provide better quality records/evidence and compatibility with other records retention systems. This will also aid the Department in providing information to the Court system,Attorney's offices, other agencies, etc. Update Radio Communication Equipment within the Department. Update the Department's records system to be compatible with surrounding agencies and the State to provide a more efficient means of tracking and/or sharing information internally as well as inter-agency.
