January 4, 2005
Honorable Mayor and Council Members
City of Pequot Lakes
31108 Government Drive
P.O. Box 361
Pequot Lakes, MN 56472-0361
RE: Proposal for Engineering Services :;
Proposed CSAH 11 Realignment
Pequot Lakes, MN
Honorable Mayor and Council Members: `ANIN
During discussions on MnDOT's proposed four-lane impro. ments to Trunk Highway 371 through
town, an idea was presented on re-aligning County S, [ Highway(CSAH) 11 two ti youth to
East Woodman Street. f.;
. .
This re-alignment may have some advantages in having the st ted intersection between CSAH 11
and TH 371 line up with the school. It would.. so relieve through t from Main Street.
The Crow Wing County Highway Engineer sai rically, the Ci "s such re-alignments
within municipal boundaries.The first step in in ' ossibility er is to conduct a feasibility
study. The County is open to participating in the east of t ,
The intent of this study wou view a horizo alignment ` entify a typical street section, look at
storm drainage, identify ible f-Way(RNV ' cquisition,estimate project costs, and list other
items to consider. ,
Following is a more define pe of M e a that WS ill perform for this study:
,
1. Ret ping'nm
e source of ma will b legation contour/aerial topographic mapping in this area
uEo. fined for the 199 ter Sys r"Improvements project(mapping from about 1997).WSN has
t 3` ping in our co°N`ifs ter files`.The eastern limit of this mapping is about 1,350 feet east of
the 1 ction of CSA v 1, County Road 112, and Old 371.
For map - ast of the above, we will pull in USGS 10-foot contour mapping. This mapping will
only provide ti anZ coordinates—no elevations (or Z coordinates) come in with this
mapping.We vin a this mapping to match as best we can the above computer mapping.We
will then digitizes 10-foot contours to obtain Z coordinates.
This task includes one field visit to pick up new buildings via rough tape measuring from features
already shown on the mapping.
This task does not include sending out a survey crew into the field to update topography or
contours/elevations.
Should additional mapping be needed, we will have to review the possible sources and costs at
that time.
