AGENDA ITEM #11 .1 <br /> REPORT TO <br /> CITY COUNCIL <br /> Date: February 1, 2005 <br /> Subiect: Comp Time <br /> Report: Currently the personnel ordinance allows <br /> employees to carry a balance of 40 hours of comp time. <br /> During the past year there have been many times when <br /> `. employees have exceeded the 40 hours and had to take <br /> overtime pay. This occurs in the Street Department at <br /> certain times of the year such as the snow season. It also <br /> occurs in the Police Department during unforeseen events <br /> that require extra police hours, and in the water and sewer <br /> department due being on-call. <br /> I would like the Council to consider extending the 40 hour <br /> comp limitation to 80 hours. This would let employees take <br /> time off during less busy times of the year and could <br /> potentially save the City overtime dollars. We would still <br /> keep the same policy of not allowing individuals to carry <br /> over more than 40 hours of comp at the end of the year.. <br /> Council Action Requested: Council decision as to <br /> whether comp hours can be increased from 40 hours to 80 <br /> hours. <br />
