PEQUOT LAKES FIRE DEPARTMENT <br /> MEETING/TRAINING ROOM PROPASAL <br /> 12/04/06 <br /> Dear Mayor and council members, <br /> The Pequot Fire Dept. does hereby submit for your approval,the following proposal. <br /> We would like to enclose the area directly west of our lockers that we currently use for <br /> our meetings and classroom training sessions. The project is expected to take two years to <br /> complete. Our first goal will be to construct two concrete block walls approximately 32' <br /> long and 13 courses tall. The walls will run east and west between the exterior wall and <br /> the existing wall near the center of the building. On top of the block walls we will place <br /> engineered floor trusses that will span approximately 31'. The trusses will be covered on <br /> top by 3/4"tongue and groove flooring that will be glued down with construction adhesive <br /> and nailed with ring shank nails. Two exits from the room are planned;the exact location <br /> of the doors has yet to be determined. A licensed commercial electrician will add lighting <br /> and outlets as needed. Our second goal will be all of the finish work such as paint, <br /> ceiling(either sheetrock or suspended),a media system that will include an overhead <br /> projector for PowerPoint and video presentations and a separate heating/cooling system <br /> capable of handling an expansion of enclosing the upper area. The heating system will <br /> exhaust to the west and will draw fresh air in for combustion. We have also included an <br /> air exchanger which draws fresh air in from the outside and replaces the stale air on the <br /> inside. <br /> Summary: <br /> Upon approval we would begin construction of the block walls as soon as <br /> possible so as to enclose the meeting room. We will have lighting installed so we have <br /> adequate use of the room. The remainder of the work will be done as our budget will <br /> allow. You should know that all the work,other than electrical, will be done on a <br /> volunteer basis by firemen skilled in their specific trades.
