SPECIAL MEETING OF THE PEQUOT LAKES CITY COUNCIL <br /> WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 2006 <br /> PEQUOT LAKES CITY HALL <br /> Members Present: Mayor C. Malecha, Council Members Bolz-Andolshek, <br /> Oraskovich, Pfeiffer, Nagel, Sjoblad, and Ryan <br /> Staff Present: Sandra Peine, City Clerk; Tim Houle and Mike Rude, City <br /> Engineers; and Mike Loven, Maintenance Supervisor <br /> 1. Call Meeting to Order <br /> Mayor Malecha called the special meeting of the Pequot Lakes City <br /> Council to order at 6:00 p.m. Mayor Malecha led with the Pledge of <br /> Allegiance <br /> Mayor Malecha noted that the purpose of the meeting was to gather <br /> information from the Council regarding the bypass option so that the <br /> Council can consider all of the information and issues when reviewing the <br /> bypass option. <br /> Council Member Nagel read a letter that was dated 2/26/2004 from the <br /> Planning Commission to the Council addressing the Planning <br /> Commission's preference that the Highway go around town. Council <br /> Member Ryan noted that this letter was sent after the Council adopted the <br /> first resolution to have the Highway go through town. <br /> The following is a list of issues that were discussed during the meeting: <br /> • Safety <br /> • Park <br /> • Traffic <br /> • School <br /> • Community wants <br /> • Accesses — necessary to have bridges and overpasses <br /> • County Highway Engineer did not seem to have a problem with a bypass <br /> • Need to continue infrastructure to spray irrigation fields for future <br /> development <br /> • Number of property owners affected <br /> • Infrastructure needs on Hwy 371 and C.R. 11 and in the industrial park <br /> • WWTP Spray Irrigation Fields — How much land is truly needed for a <br /> bypass <br /> • Access to the industrial park <br />
