On the drawing, note that we did not pick up elevations for the sanitary sewer off of Front Street next to the Cole Memorial Building and the Butcher Block (the project back then was only going to possibly impact Front Street). Even skipping the unknowns and checking the "average" slope, it too, like many of the others are flatter than the standards call for. It doesn't look like just replacing one segment is going to be our saving grace. And cost-wise, there is a lot of street restoration work involved in replacing the sanitary sewer(and possibly the crossing under Hwy 371 at Sibley as well as replacing/deepening the lift station across from the UBC). In the interim, the City should definitely keep all roots out of the line and flush/jet periodically. If the trees next to Front Street by the Cole Memorial Building are causing problems (televising the line— and not right after roots are cut— may tell the tale), the trees might need to go.
