Pequot Lakes Police Dept. <br /> Report to the City Council <br /> October 31, 2006 <br /> For the month of October the Department logged 338 individual ICRs. <br /> Activities: <br /> In the month of October, The Reserves, Part time and Full time Officers recorded 393 separate <br /> business security checks. Reserves assisted with crowd security and traffic control during The <br /> Gathering on the 8th as well as at the school district fundraiser that took place at Norway Ridge <br /> on Oct. 20th. Several Reserves continued to assist with security during the High School football <br /> games and also the first volleyball tournament. <br /> Deputy Chief Ryan, K9 Officer Josh Gartner and Chief Braam all assisted School District with <br /> classroom presentations on several different dates. The presentations were on a variety of <br /> subjects ranging from general information about avoiding drug and alcohol use to the dangers of <br /> trying/using methamphetamine to dealing with and avoiding gang activities. Deputy Chief Ryan <br /> has also been given the added duty to supervise the weight room after school. <br /> Congratulations!! Officer Chad Nangle and his wife became the proud parents of a baby boy on <br /> Thursday Oct. 19th; Jay Michael Nangle came in at 7 lbs 5 oz, 20" long. Officer Nangle will be <br /> taking a parenting leave to spend time at home with and help his wife with their new son. <br /> On October 9th Officer Josh Gartner received an award for his participation in and dedication to <br /> the Safe and Sober program. This is the first time a Pequot Lakes Police Dept. officer has <br /> received one of these awards. <br /> Officer Gartner and K9 Shadow participated with the Crow Wing County Sheriff s Dept in a full <br /> sweep and search of the Brainerd Senior High School on Oct. 18th. 6 hits were indicated <br /> throughout the school by the K9 units. <br /> Training: <br /> Oct 2°a & 11th: Office Manager Janet Wedan attended meetings and trainings for the new <br /> Countywide Records / Case management system that all departments will be <br /> hooking up to.
