PEQUOT LADS FIRE DEPARTMENT
MINUTES OF THE SEPTEMBER 6,2006 MEETING
The regular meeting of the PLFD was called to order by Chief Nelson,21 members were
present. The minutes of the last meeting were approved without being read by a motion
by Peterson II, second by Evenson, motion passed.
Truck and equipment checks were discussed. Engine 1 was OK. There are two small
orange flash lights not working. Engine 2 was missing the pair of binoculars and a
camera. It was also low on washer fluid. Engine 3 has an extra attic ladder and was a half
quart low on oil. Engine 4 was OK, but it was a quart low on oil. Engine 5 needs a new
funnel, was missing a hand lantern, missing the wheel chocks, and missing a gas can.
Tanker 6 was OK. Engine 7 was OK. Old pump truck#1 was not checked but should be
capable of being used. Engine 9 needs a new air filter, was two quarts low on oil, and
missing a hand lantern. There is a yellow lantern that can be put on Engine 9. The three
wheeler was all OK and a check list was made for it.
The financial report lists our fire fund balance at $55,775.00 We did receive the $10,000
donation from Narveson Management which comes from the Breezy Point area
condominium associations. Our scholarship fund balance is $1102.67. Our checking
account balance is $6203.82. During the month we paid $383.00 for the Palisade fire
department rodeo, purchase pop and water for$52.58, and deposited$23.00 for calendar
sales from Thurlows. Firemen owing the department money are Jeremie, $10.50 for a tee
shirt, Peterson II, $19.75 for a hat and tee shirt, and Tim, $21.00 for two tee shirts. There
are 19 cases of sausage left, which we are selling for$22.00 for a 10 pound case. The
offer will be made to all city personnel
The next Cuyuna Range meeting will be Thursday, September 21 at Nisswa.
There will be an amateur ham radio class on Tuesday, September 12 at 6:30 pm at the
Brainerd fire station The cost is $28.00 and classes will be from 6:30 to 9:30 pm for three
weeks,meeting on Tuesdays.
The FEMA fire grants should be issued in the next three weeks.
The Safety issues for tonight are all OK. Things have been proceeding well. One thing is
that the structure entry teams should be using the amplified voice air masks for better
communication purposes.
The Chief had a problem locating the Red Cross after the Wilson fire. Cass County Red
Cross is administered from Bemidji. The Brainerd office only serves Crow Wing County.
The matching DNR grant is due October 0. We will apply for radios, pagers, and fire
hose.
