SPECIAL MEETING OF THE PEQUOT LAKES CITY COUNCIL <br /> MONDAY, OCTOBER 23, 2006 <br /> PEQUOT LAKES CITY HALL <br /> \.. CITY COUNCIL MINUTES <br /> Members Present: Mayor C. Malecha, Council Members Bolz-Andolshek, <br /> Oraskovich, Nagel, Sjoblad, and Ryan <br /> Members Absent: Council Member Pfeiffer <br /> Staff Present: Sandra Peine, City Clerk; Paul Sandelin, City Attorney <br /> Also Present: Brett Twardy, Water/Wastewater Superintendent; Stan <br /> Carlisle, Attorney for Brett Twardy <br /> 1. Call Meeting to Order <br /> Mayor Malecha called the special meeting of the Pequot Lakes City <br /> Council to order at 6:30 p.m. She noted that the purpose of the meeting <br /> was from preliminary consideration of allegations or charges against an <br /> individual subject to its authority pursuant to Minnesota Statute Section <br /> 13D.05, Subd. 2. further, in accordance with said statute, the meeting will <br /> be closed. However, the meeting must be open at the request of the <br /> individual who is the subject of the meeting. <br /> Mayor Malecha questioned whether Brett Twardy wanted an open or <br /> closed meeting. Mr. Twardy responded that he wanted the meeting <br /> closed. <br /> Mayor Malecha closed the meeting. <br /> Discussion was held regarding allegations against the individual. Mr. <br /> Twardy and his attorney had an opportunity to respond to the allegations. <br /> The Mayor requested Mr. Carlisle and Mr. Twardy to leave to room so the <br /> Council could review the information presented. <br /> The Mayor then asked Mr. Twardy and Mr. Carlisle back to the closed <br /> session. <br /> Mayor Malecha then opened the meeting. Following comments by several <br /> Council Members, the following motions was made: <br /> MAYOR MALECHA MOVED TO TERMINATE BRETT TWARDY AS THE <br /> CITY WATER/WASTEWATER SUPERINTENDENT BASED ON THE <br /> EIGHT GROUNDS, ACTS, OMISSIONS LISTED IN THE NOTICE OF <br /> DISCIPLINARY PROCEEDINGS <br />
