SPECIAL MEETING OF THE PEQUOT LAKES CITY COUNCIL TUESDAY, MAY 23, 2006 PEQUOT LAKES CITY HALL Members Present: Mayor C. Malecha, Council Members Bolz-Andolshek, Nagel, Pfeiffer, Sjoblad, and Ryan Members Absent: Council Member Greer Staff Present: Sandra Peine, City Clerk; Tim Houle and Mike Rude, City Engineers; Jerry Braam, Chief of Police Call Meeting to Order Mayor Malecha called the special meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Mayor Malecha indicated that the purpose of the special meeting is to discuss the proposed layout for the Sibley Street intersection in relation to the Highway 371 Expansion Project. Property owners surrounding the intersection were invited to attend. City Engineer Tim Houle reviewed previous discussions and suggestions from MnDOT, the Highway 371 Committee, and the City Council regarding the intersection. Tim also indicated that the Council's intention is to gather input from surrounding property owners. Mayor Malecha received public comment on the intersection. The following issues were discussed. • Concerns about delivery truck turning circle • Access in the proposed cul-de-sac on the south end of Front Street east of Hwy 371 • Comments about a full access intersection between Main Street/CSAH 11 and Front Street/CSAH 17 • A question as to whether or not "all" properties can be saved when considering service roads • There was discussion about a right in off of TH 371 onto East Sibley, using the DNR parcel north of UBC as a recreational parking lot. The Council thanked those in attendance for their comments. Part Time Police Officers Chief Braam explained how the two part time officers would be financed. He noted that the City received a grant of which $3,000 will be used to finance these officers. He further explained that the officers will work on Friday and Saturday
