Special City Council Minutes <br /> February 7, 2006 <br /> --------------------------------------- <br /> Council Member Pfeiffer indicated that she is not in favor of the tax. <br /> Senator Ruud indicated her support and Representative Howes support of <br /> the City's pursuit of this endeavor. She suggested that a resolution be <br /> adopted and indicated she and Representative Howes would author a bill <br /> in this regard. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD MOVED TO ADOPT RESOLUTION 06- <br /> 07 WITH THE FOLLOWING AMENDMENTS: <br /> • THAT THE PEQUOT LAKES CITY COUNCIL IS ONLY <br /> INTERESTED IN PURSUING THE 0.5% SALES TAX FOR THE <br /> HIGHWAY 371 IMPROVEMENT IF THE CITIES OF BRAINERD, <br /> BAXTER, AND NISSWA ARE ALSO INVOLVED SO AS MAKE <br /> THIS A REGIONAL EFFORT. <br /> • THAT THE SALES TAX WILL TERMINATE AT THE TIME THE <br /> SALES TAX REACHES $5,000,000, WITH SAID TAX TO BE <br /> USED SPECIFICALLY FOR THE HIGHWAY 371 PROJECT, OR <br /> WHEN THE CITY'S PROJECT COSTS HAVE BEEN PAID IN <br /> FULL, WHICHEVER COMES FIRST. <br /> • THAT THE CITY OF PEQUOT LAKES WILL PURSUE ALL <br /> `.. AVAILABLE FUNDING OPTIONS FOR THIS PROJECT <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER BOLZ-ANDOLSHEK SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> MOTION CARRIED 3-2. COUNCIL MEMBERS PFEIFFER AND RYAN <br /> OPPOSED. <br /> 3. Assessment Policy <br /> This item will be discussed at the regular Council meeting. <br /> 4. Adjournment <br /> There being no further business, COUNCIL MEMBER PFEIFFER <br /> MOVED TO ADJOURN THE MEETING. COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD <br /> SECONDED THE MOTION.
