It appears that just one of the pivot irrigators would be impacted
with MnDOT's estimated R/W. Although, as they state, this does not include R/W for service
drives on the east side.
If a bypass went in, there would be a southern intersection for a short connector between
the bypass and the existing Hwy 371. I believe this intersection and connector would be in
this area. If so, eventually, the land around this intersection would increase in value to
a point that, sooner or later, would make the remainder of the spray irrigation in this
area not the right use of this land. So, even if we were only dealing with moving one
pivot irrigator for the bypass, I predict the City would eventually be faced with, not too
far down the future, looking at relocating the other adjacent two irrigators.
TimH
-----Original Message-----
From: Sandy Peine (mailto:speine @pequotlakes-mn.gov)
Sent: Thursday, August 24, 2006 2:25 PM
To: 'Tim Houle'
Subject: FW: TH 371 - Pequot Lakes
-----Original Message-----
From: James Hallgren [mailto:James.Hallgren @dot.state.mn.us]
Sent: Thursday, August 24, 2006 1:44 PM
To: speine @ pequotlakes-mn.gov
Cc: Craig Robinson
Subject: TH 371 - Pequot Lakes
Hi Sandy,
As requested at Tuesday night's workshop, we estimated the right of way
(r/w) impacts to the spray irrigation fields. This estimate does not include r/w impacts
associated with a service drive or hydraulic ponds. For this analysis we assumed a grade
separated crossing of the Paul Bunyan Trail with Highway 371 over which resulted in 25
feet (assumed) additional r/w width. We estimate the r/w impacts on this parcel to be
approximetely 17.0 acres.
Attached is an electronic file of the potential r/w impacts.
If you have any questions or need any additional information, please feel free to contact
me.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Jim Hallgren
Project Manager
1
