MEMORANDUM
TO: CROW WING COUNTY BOARD
FROM: SANDY PEINE, PEQUOT LAKES CITY CLERK
DATE: DECEMBER 199 2005
SUBJECT: TRANSPORTATION ENHANCEMENT GRANT
The Central Minnesota Area Transportation Partnership is accepting
transportation enhancement applications for projects to be constructed
during State Fiscal Years 2009 and 2010 (July 1, 2008—June 30, 2010).
The City of Pequot Lakes is applying for a grant for a pedestrian and
bicycle underpass. This underpass is associated with the Highway 371
improvement. The Highway 371 committee and the Pequot Lakes City
Council identified safety for pedestrians as an essential part of this
project. Therefore, the City is applying for this grant to assist in the cost
of providing a safe way for pedestrians, students, and bicyclists to cross
the Highway after the expansion takes place.
Because the City of Pequot Lakes is a city with a population of less than
5,000 people there is a requirement that the County sponsor the grant.
What this means is that the County sponsors the grant knowing that
they are responsible to secure and guarantee the local share of costs
associated with the project and that the County is responsible for seeing
the project through to its completion.
