violations since it is the violator that has caused the expense, not the general
public. Violations are complaint driven—we do not go out looking for them. We
have had violations that were resolved with one site visit with a consultant and
one that we have had several visits resulting in more than$3,000.00 of expenses.
We have added a statement in our violation letter that the property owner will be
responsible for all expenses to the City, in addition to any fines.
➢ Telephone calls to Community Growth Institute are a budgeted item. In other
words, we have forecast an approximate amount of time each year that will be
spent taking phone calls and sending general correspondence. The City receives
detailed invoices and Community Growth Institute tracks large or lengthy
applications or violations separately. If someone were to call Community Growth
Institute with a miscellaneous question, that would be part of our budget and they
would not be billed for the phone call. However, if it is a question specific to a
long or lengthy application/violation,the call would be noted to that
application/violation so that the City could seek reimbursement.
➢ If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me. My direct line is
568-6699.
Completed August 29,2006 3
