I
In the nine cases referred to our project from Pequot Lakes, all the contracts have
been fulfilled or are being fulfilled. Earlier this year, we received several cases
involving girls fighting. We held conferences with the girls and their families and
became aware of a widespread problem of relational aggression among the girls
who had been fighting. In response, we set up meetings with some of the parents
of the girls who had been fighting. Out of this conversation, Stephanie Haider,
our Director of Volunteer Services, arranged for two circle discussions with the
girls who had been fighting, their friends, and younger sisters to discuss the
problem of relational aggression. The conversations were well received, and we
have had no more referrals for fights between girls from the school.
Our staff consists of two paid part-time workers and twenty volunteer conference
facilitators, some from Pequot Lakes. The volunteers are given twenty-four hours
of training and intern with paid staff until they are ready to facilitate conferences
paired with other volunteers.
Attached is a letter of support from the Crow Wing County Chief s Association.
Our project has saved your police department time, has kept youth in your
community out of the criminal justice system, and provides a way for your citizens
to make your community a safer place. We hope that you will make this
contribution to support the project.
J y yours. Lynn
Enclosures:
Crow County Chief s Association Letter
2006 budget
