AGENDA ITEM #12.10
REPORT TO
CITY COUNCIL
Date: August 1, 2006
Subject: Longevity Pay
Report: When the Council approved the City Pay Plan,
Ray Niemann noted that something would have to be done
to recognize employees who reach the top of their pay plan.
Ray Niemann has recommended a policy for the City to
follow. The policy is attached.
Basically the policy states that "every third year after an
employee has reached the range maximum, the employee
will be eligible for a longevity increase of three percent
which will be granted on January 1St following the third
year after reaching the range maximum." The 3% pay
increase will be in a lump sum so that it will not affect the
integrity of the pay plan.
The Pay Equity Committee reviewed this draft policy and
is recommending that the Council adopt the policy.
Council Action Requested: Council motion to adopt the
`- attached longevity pay policy.
