Pequot Lakes Police Dept.
Report to the City Council
July 27, 2006
The month of July has been very busy, with the Department completing more than 400 ICRs,
which is more than double our average. Several officers have also had court time during the
month.
Activities:
In the month of July The Reserves, Part time and Full time Officers have recorded 395 separate
business security checks. All of the Reserves and Part time Officers also helped with the 4`h of
July festivities, including Parade crowd control, traffic control and bike patrol before, during and
after the parade. We were also able to have reserves on hand for both days of Bean Hole Days,
providing bike patrol, crowd control and assistance.
Officer Hogan was able to assist both the City of Nisswa and Emily with their July festivities
using the dept motorcycle during the Nisswa parade on July 3rd and during the Emily Days
parade on July 15`h. He was also available to escort the Budweiser Clydesdales on Bean Hole
Days, which was a big hit with those in attendance.
The Minnesota Department of Public Safety Post Board recently audited the Department. We
received a 100% compliance marking on this, our first audit.
Enclosed is a copy of the signed photo of Motor Officer Rich Hogan and Congressman James
Oberstar and letter of appreciation from Mr. Oberstar's visit, while on his annual Paul Bunyan
Trail bike ride.
Significant Case Files:
• K9 Officer Gartner and Shadow recently assisted the Crow Wing County Sheriff's
Department with a Drug Interdiction program with 6 other departments. They had a total
of 106 traffic stops, which included 8 drug related arrests and 1 arrest on a drug
trafficking warrant.
Respectfully Submitted,
X414
Jerry Braam
Chief of Police
