r
PEQUOT LAKES FIRE DEPARTMENT
MINUTES OF THE JULY 5,2005 MEETING
The monthly meeting of the PLFD was called to order by Chief Nelson, 20 members
were present. The minutes of the last meeting were approved by a motion by Nordby,
second by Evenson,motion passed
Truck and equipment checks were discussed. The Peterbuilt was all OK. Engine 2 was
missing a hand lantern. Also the gas valve for the Hurst tool engine was left open and
fuel spilled into the compartment and needs to be cleaned. Tanker 6 had a roof ladder
which was not tied down and should not even be on the truck. A 2 '/Z"double female and
a shovel were missing. Old grass truck#5 has no gas can, is missing a funnel, wheel
chocks are missing, and the siren does not work. Tanker#3 has an extra spanner wrench
and an extra length of 1 '/2"hose.The step ladder was not tied down. The van(engine#4)
has extremely dim lights, which could indicate a bad ground. The tender brake fluid is
checked through a rubber plug which pulls out of the dash. The fluid checked OK and so
did everything else. The grass truck#9 was all OK. The gas tank on old#1 still needs to
be fixed. The Mac tanker holds 3707 gallons and Bill won the lottery with the closest
guess.
The financial report is that the fire fund has about a$20,000 balance. Our checking
account has approximately$6000.00. The report for the pancake breakfast was we served
1076 people, three more than last year. Our deposit for the breakfast was off by
approximately$150.00. We received about$700.00 in donations during the breakfast.
The double serving line went real well. Also separating the food from the drinks worked
good. We don't know what our profit is yet,but it should be over$4000.00.Next year we
could use a couple more roasters for sausage and some bigger pans for it. The clear cups
for beverage worked good and we ran out of them. There are 20 cases of sausage left to
sell for$23.00 a case which is 10 pounds. A pancake committee to help organize and
plan was appointed to be Bob Peterson I,Kirk,Bill, Tom, Patrick, and Chris.
We received a thank you note from Jack Schmidt for bringing chairs to the Memorial day
veteran's memorial dedication ceremony. We also received a thank you from Nick Fisher
who was awarded our scholarship for 2006.
Safety issues were the Ray Moraine fire which had a live power line on the north side of
the house. There were two fire helmets hanging very close to the hot line. It would be a
good idea to call dispatch and have them notify the power company while we are in
route.
We need to set up a fuel charge account at Munchies in Breezy.
Dan Loven motioned we transfer$300.00 from our pancake profits to the scholarship
fund, second by Evenson,motion passed.
