Minutes of the Pequot Lakes Community Library <br /> Board Meeting <br /> June 20, 2006 <br /> Vice President Lydia Loven called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm. Present: <br /> Lydia Loven, John Longnecker,Ann Hutchings, Sam Hennies, Claire Nagel. Dave <br /> Anderson and Nancy Adams were absent. Mary Pfeiffer represented the city council. <br /> Cathy Malecha and Dr. Harry Olson were guests. <br /> Sam Hennes moved, Ann Hutchings seconded,that the minutes of the May 16, <br /> 2006 meeting be approved. Motion carried. <br /> The treasurer's report was examined. The checking account balance is $1,785.68; <br /> CD balance is $41,036.51;the money market balance is$11,130.04. John Longnecker <br /> motioned its approval, seconded by Ann Hutchings. Motion carried. <br /> Committee Reports: <br /> Everything is going well with our volunteers. The volunteers who are away for <br /> the winter are back and are scheduled in to work during the summer, giving our regular <br /> volunteers a break every other week. <br /> Fliers for the children's summer reading program were distributed to the children <br /> at Eagle View School at the end of the school year and an ice cream social kick-off for <br /> the program was held in the Lakes State Bank parking lot on June 10. So far fifty-five <br /> children have registered. <br /> The book sale is being publicized by means of posters being distributed around <br /> town. A news release was written and sent in to The Lake Country Echo. <br /> Publicity for The Garden Party Tea to be held at the Pequot Lakes Baptist Church <br /> on August 12 will be starting shortly. Posters have been created and tickets will be <br /> handed out to board members to sell and some will be available at the library front desk. <br /> Claire was asked to print 24 posters for Lydia to distribute. <br /> Preparation for the 4 of July pie-and-ice cream booth is underway. Ann <br /> Hutchings is the coordinator. She announced all is ready except to pick up the pies and <br /> Kemp's ice cream on the 0. Sam Hennes offered to have his dentist's office pay for the <br /> ice cream, which will be stored in the freezer at Pfeiffer Pharmacy. Thank you Sam and <br /> Mary. Ann Hutchings,John Longnecker and Cathy Malecha will set up the booth. <br /> Old business: <br /> We have received six used computers from the Minneapolis Library. Four have <br /> been installed for public use by Cascade Computers. Discussion held about what to do <br /> with the other two computers. <br /> The new printer for checking out books will soon be in operation. This will be a <br /> boon to both our volunteers and our patrons, making the process easier and saving time. <br /> No new business. <br /> Motion by John Longnecker, seconded by Claire Nagel, to adjourn. <br />
