AGENDA ITEM #10.1
REPORT TO
CITY COUNCIL
Date: June 6, 2006
Subiect: K9 (Shadow)
Report: When Chief Braam was hired he brought Shadow
(a K9 Police Dog) with him. The dog actually belongs to
Chief Braam. It would be in the best interest of the City to
-- own the dog. Staff is requesting the Council to consider
purchasing the dog from Chief Braam. I have provided two
different sources of pricing for a K9 police dog similar
Shadow.
In checking with our insurance agent, once the City owns
the dog, it will automatically be covered under the City's
policy at no extra cost to the City. Chief Braam is currently
personally insuring the dog. K9 Officer Gartner will be able
to house the dog with him once the dog is owned by the
City. The dog is currently housed at City Hall.
Shadow has been an asset to the City in several instances.
See attached information.
