➢ May 5—Preserve Golf Course Environmental Advisory Committee Annual
\.. Meeting— 11:00 a.m.
➢ May 8—Monthly Budget Meeting—9:45 a.m.
➢ May 11 —Met with Sandy and Mike at tax forfeit lots on Hubbard Street—9:15
a.m.
Notes:
❖ I attended the Environmental Advisory Committee Meeting for the Preserve Golf
Course on May 5. The Preserve monitors numerous sites throughout the golf
course as part of their Conditional Use Permit. This monitoring has taken place
annually for the past ten years. Total phosphorus, ortho-phosphorus,total
nitrogen, conductivity and pH are analyzed. One very interesting issue raised was
a shoreline violation on Upper Cullen Lake, where the property owner massacred
all vegetation from the building site to the lake, including trees and wetlands, in a
very wide swath. (NOTE: This parcel is not within the City of Pequot Lakes!)
The SWCD has issued a restoration plan. However, the impact from this
violation will ultimately affect the water quality of Upper Cullen Lake. At some
point the golf course may be blamed for the poor water quality. With the data
collected by this Environmental Advisory Committee, the City of Pequot Lakes
can rest assured they did not allow an activity that contributed to the poor water
quality of Upper Cullen Lake.
❖ Dawn was on vacation May 19—26.
Completed May 30, 2006 2
