MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT
MONTHLY REPORT
APRIL, 2006
Our future cemetery land with trees has once again passed a Minnesota Department of
Agriculture Inspection. There seems to be more interest in tree sales than last year.
With all of the snow gone, raking and repairs have been going on in most of the City
parks and the cemetery to get ready for the growing season.
Left over sand from the winter on highways and streets in the City will be cleaned up by
the end of April with MnDOT, Crow Wing County, City contracted and City rental
equipment doing all of the work.
The maintenance department has learned we have to develop a plan to inventory and
inspect all sidewalks within the City regardless whether they are in state, county or city
right-of-ways. The City is the responsible party for all repairs and/or replacement of poor
quality sidewalks within the city limits. There are some other factors involved with
possible joint agreements and assessment of some replacement depending on the size of
the project.
MEETINGS ATTENDED IN APRIL
4-6 Mn AG Department Tire Inspection
4-10 Monthly department budget meeting
4-11,12 Mn Local Technical Assistance Program—Maintenance Training—St.
Cloud
4-18 Historical Group—Elevator—Aitkin
4-19 Park Board—Contractors—Water System in Trailside Park
4-20 Sentence to Serve Supervise—Lake Park Project
4-25 Monthly Group Safety Meeting at Breezy Point
4-25 Safety Program Board at Breezy Point
4-26 2006 Street Project Bid Opening
