T <br /> COMMITTEE MEETING TO DISCUSS CITY PLANNER POSITION <br /> JANUARY 25, 2006 <br /> PEQUOT LAKES CITY HALL <br /> Members Present: Council Members Greer, Nagel, and Pfeiffer, Planning <br /> Commissioner Tommy Woog and City Clerk, Sandy Peine <br /> The meeting was held to discuss the merit of hiring a full time planner versus <br /> using a planning consultant firm. Council Member Greer informed the committee <br /> members that he had done some research on this issue. <br /> Cross Lake currently has a Planning and Zoning Community Development <br /> Director. Salary of+$50,000. There is also a zoning coordinator and GIS <br /> coordinator who each make about $24,000 - $36,000 per year. <br /> Nisswa has a full time zoning Administrator. Salary- low $40's. Also has 25% <br /> clerical help for meetings. <br /> Brainerd One full time planner- $57,000 per year. One secretary. Planner feels <br /> they are understaffed. <br /> `-' <br /> Pillager— No Planner or consultant— City personnel handle planning <br /> Pine River— Staff building inspector but no P&Z person. Council handles P&Z <br /> issues. <br /> Little Falls— Building and Planning and Zoning handled by one staff person <br /> which reports to the City Administrator. The Administrator handles the meetings <br /> Rice County— Planning and Zoning Director- $52,000 -$73,000. <br /> Sauk Rapids— Student Planner -$10 per hour <br /> Lakeville— One Planner - $56,000 to $63,000 <br /> Robbinsdale— Planner- $52,000 to $69,000 <br /> Brooklyn Park— Planner- $45,000 to $48,000 <br /> Minnetonka— Planning Tech - $41,000 to $46,000 <br />
