Dept Goals for 2006
To continue to build relationships with surrounding police departments and
sheriff's departments so that we work together with a common goal of
creating the safest communities possible for our citizens and visitors.
We will continue to work closely with every department within the
government of the City of Pequot Lakes so that we work smoothly as a team
to best serve our citizens and visitors.
Implementation of part time officers to the department to better serve the
community.
Implementation of a Police Reserve (non licensed officers) program that will
assist us with community events, patrol of our parks and resort areas. This
program will also be used to assist with security checks with our local
businesses in both Pequot Lakes and Jenkins. The reserve program will also
start up an animal compliance program to take care of licensing issues and
nuisance animal complaints.
Implementation of a Citizens Police Academy. This will be an 8 week
program involving 8-10 of our local citizens to teach them about what their
Law Enf Dept does on a day-to-day basis. Topics that will be included in
this program will be, accident investigation, DWI investigation, narcotic
investigations, first aid and emergency medical care, business checks and
basic patrol procedures, firearms training day and also courtroom testimony.
We as a department will continue to strive for a community policing
approach and continue to gain the support and confidence of our citizens.
We will treat our residents and visitors with the utmost respect when dealing
with them in every situation.
Sincerely
c-
J Braam
Chief of Police
