Pequot Lakes Police Dept.
L. Report to City Council
December 30, 2005
So far for the month of December the Department logged over 300 ICRs. The Patrol Officers continue
their concentrated efforts on making the local streets and highways safer places to travel.
The Department has participated in the `Operation Night Cap Saturation' Program once already in
Dec. and will do so again this evening. The Officers stopped over 30 cars in a single shift and gave
warnings to drivers to obey the speed limit, get equipment fixed such has head lights out, obey stop
signs and other minor traffic violations. This program is run through the Safe and Sober program.
The Department had a very successful campaign to raise funds through area businesses to provide the
department with much needed new equipment. With the funds raised we were able to purchase 6 - 40
cal. Glock handguns, 2—Tasers, 1 —M14 Rifle and misc. ammunition for the rifle and handguns. All
Officers have gone through training with the new equipment and the guns put into service.
The new Department squad cars should be delivered sometime the 3rd week of January and then will be
outfitted locally and put into service as soon as possible the beginning of February.
Training/Activities:
The new training schedule for 2006 is still in the planning stages as to what will be provided in the
area, so at this time no specific Officer trainings have been assigned.
Jan 23rd—26th: Chief Jerry Braam will attend the MN Chief's of Police Command School.
Mar 6th—9th: Deputy Chief John Ryan will attend Leadership Training.
Respectfully Submitted,
Jerry Braam
Chief
