I
Pequot Lakes Police Dept.
Report to the City Council
November 28, 2007
As of this morning, for the month of November the Department has logged 408 individual ICRs.
Current Activities:
The Reserves, Part time and Full time Officers conducted 447 individual business and home security
checks throughout the month, with only 1 open door found.
Starting in December Reserve Officers will start to assist with crowd control during the PLHS home
basketball games for the season. As of the 27th the Reserve Unit is now back up to having 10 Officers,
after a couple had had to resign because of changes in their employment. In December all of the
Reserve Officers will be attending CPR / AED training here at the PD in preparation for the new AED
the Dept will have available for when the reserves are on patrol. The new AED is made possible by the
grant accepted at the November Council Meeting.
The Department sold a forfeited vehicle for the first time on the State Surplus website auction, along
with a mower for the Road Dept. Both sales were a great success, with both the vehicle and the mower
selling for a higher price than we anticipated. We will most likely use this service for other sales in the
future.
Training:
Nov. 22"d: Officer Gartner provided re-certification training for Officers Hogan and Nangle, as they
were unavailable previously when the rest of the department went through the training.
Significant Cases:
On November 21St all law enforcement departments in Crow Wing County participated in a Night CAP
operation through safe and sober on the HWY 371 corridor. 9 officers participated in the program that
stopped 137 vehicles, which resulted in 2 DWI arrests, 3 DAS arrests, 1 warrant and 3 tickets issued for
no insurance; 2 speed citations and 45 warnings; 1 seatbelt citation and 63 equipment violation
warnings; 2 miscellaneous citations and 35 warnings for miscellaneous traffic violations. Officer
Gartner represented Pequot Lakes Police Dept. and had 15 traffic stops and 1 of the 2 DWI arrests.
On November 27th, SRO Officers Petersen investigated a suspicious activity tip, which resulted in the
issuance of a citation to a Pequot Lakes School District teacher for possession of a small amount of
marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Respectfully Submitted,
J ry Braam
Chief of Police
