Planning Commission Report to the Council,November 2007 Page 3
ii. No more than four(4)temporary signs shall be on display at a given time for each
parcel, provided that the total area of the signs conforms to the provisions of
subpart(i)contained herein.
3. Ordinance Amendment to Modify Side Yard Setbacks in the Light Industrial
District,City of Pequot Lakes
The Light Industrial district allows for a parking lot setback of io feet, but driveways must be
setback at least the minimum side yard setback, which is 30 feet. The Commission felt that this
was not consistent with the io-foot parking setback and requested that an amendment to add
"driveways" to the parking lot setback for the industrial district, giving flexibility to the layout
and design of structures and associated accesses and parking within the district.
The Planning Commission is recommending that Section 5.13, Subdivision 3 on Lot, Use, and
Density Requirements for the Light Industrial district be modified as follows:
Setback, parking and driveways from lot lineāfeet,minimum...............io
4. Ordinance Amendment Establishing Fence Standards in the Shoreline
Residential Zone, City of Pequot Lakes
After it was brought to their attention that the City does not have a specific standard for fences
within the Shoreline Residential zoning district, the Planning Commission directed an analysis
on the City's fence regulations. There are concerns, based on prior experience in Pequot Lakes,
that ambiguous fence regulations within the shoreland setback can create neighborhood
conflicts that are difficult to resolve. Current regulations identify fences as a "structure" and
prohibit structures within the lake setback, however this is not as clear as fence regulations are
in other parts of the Ordinance.
Summaa of Existing Standards
Height Outside Height within Barbed and .
Zone Lake Setback Lake Setback Electric Wire 10 feet of road
OS
WR
RR 60 in. 36 in.
