1. A through town route maintains expectations of all involved—community at
large, residents, business, travelers
2. Stagnation of the community will occur if a bypass route is selected—the bypass
at the earliest will be completed in 10 years; at worst, it may never be built.
3. A through town route creates a level playing field with neighboring communities
that have already selected through town routes.
4. Traffic levels will return to their current levels by 2030 with a bypass—we won't
solve our pedestrian safety issues with a bypass.
5. We are prepared to support you and finalize the through town route, access points,
finances, and aesthetics over the next 10+ years to ensure that Pequot Lakes is
vibrant and attractive for residents, business, and visitors.
The Chamber asks to be, and wants to be, part of the dialogue between the community
and council as the council makes its decision in December. We feel that the dialogue
you've supported in the last few months has provided new information about the two
routes and we want to help communicate this new information to the community at the
December council meeting.
The Chamber's support of Pequot Lakes isn't contingent on your agreement but we hope
you consider this new information in your decision.
Sincerely,
Lisa Paxton
Chief Executive Officer
