Pequot Lakes Police Dept. <br /> Report to the City Council <br /> October 31, 2007 <br /> For the month of October the Department logged 611 individual ICRs. <br /> Current Activities: <br /> The Reserves, Part time and Full time Officers conducted 560 individual business and home security <br /> checks throughout the month. Several Reserve Officers assisted with crowd control /foot patrol during <br /> the PLHS football games during the season. <br /> A couple officers had cases that went to Court during the month. Officer Gartner finished a DWI case <br /> that resulted in the Department receiving ownership of a Harley Davidson motorcycle through the <br /> forfeiture process. <br /> Council Liaison Jim Oraskovich took several ride-alongs with both full-time and part-time officers <br /> throughout the month. Getting to see the officers conducting traffic stops, patrol, and other routine <br /> duties. Councilman Oraskovich also had the opportunity to participate in the handgun qualifications. <br /> Training: <br /> Oct 3- 5: Chief Braam and Officer Petersen attended training on Investigation of Sexual Crimes, <br /> at Grand View Lodge in Nisswa. <br /> Oct 17 & 24: Officer Hogan implemented the Department wide required pistol and rifle training and re- <br /> qualifications at the Pine River Fish & Game Club. <br /> Oct 24: Office Manager Wedan attended a free training at the Brainerd Police Dept regarding <br /> narcotic investigations for non-licensed personnel. The training reviewed the terminology <br /> used, identification off and filing processes used for reports and charges for cases <br /> involving narcotics. <br /> Significant Cases: <br /> During the month of October the department participated in several Safe and Sober shifts for seatbelt <br /> and alcohol enforcement. Throughout the month Officers conducted 8 traffic arrests for people driving <br /> under the influence, 7 for alcohol and 1 for other unknown substance abuse. <br /> Officer Gartner and K-9 Shadow also provided Assistance to Officer Garcia of the Breezy Point Police <br /> Dept on a traffic stop that yielded an arrest for Intent to Distribute, with '/ ounce of Methamphetamine <br /> found in the vehicle. <br /> Officers Braam, Gartner and Ailts were involved in a case of a vehicle theft from a residence in Pequot <br /> Lakes. The two suspects stole the vehicle from the residence and later crashed the vehicle while <br /> leaving town. Officer Gartner and K-9 Shadow conducted a search for the suspects in the area of the <br /> crash. Officers Braam and Ailts later apprehended the suspects, which were on foot and had returned <br /> to town. <br />
