Roger Varilek has regretfully submitted his letter of resignation
due to a new position with his employer. His term expires March,
2008. The Planning Commission does not wish to leave this seat
vacant until that time as it is sometimes difficult to reach a quorum
for our public hearings. City Ordinance reads as follows:
Section 1-20.1. PLANNING COMMISSION MEMBERS
The Planning Commission shall consist of no less than seven (7)
members and no more than thirteen (13) members who are
residents or landowners of the City and appointed by the City
Council for terms of three years. All terms shall end on March 12;
however, commissioners shall hold office until their successors
have been appointed. A vacancy shall be filled by the City Council
for the remainder of the term. The members of the Planning
Commission, by a majority vote, shall elect one of the appointed
commissioners at the first meeting of the year to serve as chair.
The Planning Commission, at their regular monthly meeting
September 20, 2007, recommends the following:
A motion was made by Tom Adams, seconded by Bill Habein, to
recommend the Mayor appoint someone to fill the remainder of his
term. All members voted "aye". Motion carried.
