 0
Pequot Lakes Police Department
Memo :
DATE: August 30, 2007
TO: Pequot Lakes City Council
FROM: Jerry Braam, Chief of Police
As previously discussed with the Council, Kate Petersen has attended
the School Resource Officer (SRO) Training in preparation for her to
become the new full time SRO with the Pequot Lakes School District.
Also previously discussed during the budget meeting was the plan to
hire Kate as a full time officer, as of the first of the year.
With that in mind, I am requesting that the Council approve hiring
Kate Petersen as a full time officer with the department, serving as the
SRO, effective September 4th, 2007. For the period of September 4th
through December 31, 2007, all payroll expenses for this position would
be taken from the Community Policing budget. Then on January 1St,
2008 this position would become a part of the General Fund under the
Police Department budget for personnel.
I am recommending that this position be started at the rate of$16.11
per hour, with full benefits, according to the first step for a police officer
on the 2007 pay scale. As with all employees, Kate would be required to
complete a 6-month employee probationary period.
Respe tfully Submitted,
