During these security checks 18 instances of open doors were found at
various businesses.
The whole Department worked for the 4th of July Parade. Officer Hogan led the parade on the motor
unit and the Chief followed the High School band, with Nancy Malecha and members of the Chief's
family assisting the department with handing out treats to the kids along the route. Reserve Officers
provided foot patrol during Bean hole days as well as on several afternoons throughout the entire
month.
Training:
July 16 - 27: Officer Rich Hogan attended Motorcycle Officer training in Wisconsin. He passed 2nd in
his class, reporting that this was the most intense training he has ever taken in his entire
law enforcement career.
Aug 13 - 17: Officer Kate Petersen will be attending National School Resource Officer (SRO) training
in St. Paul, in preparation for working in the school this fall.
Significant Cases:
Officers continue to concentrate their efforts on reducing the speeds on all roadways, including the
Highway and the illegal passing on the right shoulder, especially at intersections.
