CITY OF PEQUOT LAKES
MONTHLY WATER/WASTEWATER REPORT
JUNE 2007
Prepared by: Tina.Nolden(Water/WW Manager)
WATER PLANT:
On June 50,we had our construction meeting for Trailside Estates. They
discovered that they had three bad saddles and two bad hydrants. They took care of all of
those and have finally passed their pressure test. What a relief. On June 14", Keith with
Mid-State Refrigeration replaced a compressor on one of our dehumidifiers at the plant
because the old one had burned out. June 190i,Rick Wanner, with American Flow
Control, helped me work on a few of our hydrants to get them operating better. It was a
free service through MRWA.He also helped me put an extension on the hydrant on
Gravdahl Road. One of my fluoride pumps is having trouble keeping it's prime again so I
went ahead and bought a new kit that is designed to keep this from happening.
WATER DISTRIBUTION:
June 8h,I had Tom's Backhoe install a yard hydrant under the bobber tower for
the Park Board. June 260i,I received many calls due to customers having issues with
brownish-colored water. I hadn't started flushing hydrants yet so I'm not sure why this
happened,or where it even originated since the calls were coming from all areas of town.
I attempted to remedy the problem by flushing water from the hydrants around all of the
homes/businesses that were having issues with it. This must have helped because we
haven't gotten any more calls about it. Something must have gotten stirred up somewhere
in the lines, but hopefully it's run it's course and we won't have to worry about it
happening again anytime soon. Earl Hemmerich, owner of Pequot Terrace, had
discovered another leak this month. He had it located on the 26th and then had Stumvoll
Excavating dig it up for him on the 27b. They've gotten it repaired now,but it has caused
another very large loss of water.
WASTEWATER:
I attended an MWOA meeting in Pine River on the 12th. It addressed a variety of
topics. TEAM lab came and sprayed the weeds around both sewer ponds on June 20th.
Our permit requires us to have this done. On the 26th,I had Karl Moon take a look at one
of our irrigators. It had blown a fuse and he discovered some worn out wires that had
caused the problem. He cleaned the wires and put new connections on and it's up and
running again. Now I know what to look for the next time something like this happens. I
met with Mike Rude on the 270i to go over some details on our capital improvement
planning process.
OTHER:
June 200i, I sat in on a conference call with Ehlers. Sandy,Jeanyne and I have
been putting information together for them and they have begun our water/sewer rate
`' study. It will be interesting to see what they come up with. I hope it will help.
