CITY OF PEQUOT LAKES
MONTHLY WATERlWASTEWATER REPORT
MAY 2007
Prepared by:Tina Nolden(Water/WW Manager)
WATER PLANT:
Things are well at the water plant this month. However, our water usage is
considerably higher due to the problems at the Trailside Development. It seems the
majority of their issues have been resolved now and I've been noticing the differences on
my daily plant log.Hopefully, they will have everything taken care of soon.
I attended a class at SCTC on May 9&and I&that went over chlorine feed
systems. It focused on gas chlorinators(which we have)and we learned how to properly
use them and how to rebuild them. We were also given a tour of the Sartell and St. Cloud
Water Plants. It was another worthwhile class.
WATER DISTRIBUTION:
On May 15'',I was called out about 6pm for a water problem at Pequot Terrace.
One of their stubbed-out water lines blew a cap off and the water came pouring out of the
ground on the north end of the trailer park. I closed the valve to stop the flow of water
and called in a locate knowing it would need to be taken care of soon. When Earl
Hemmerich arrived,he decided to wait until morning to fix the problem. It was his
service line,so he took care of things from there. He mentioned this being his second
water line repair and is hoping we can credit him for any unnecessary sewer charges. I
will have 7eanyne print out a bill history and see what we can do for him.
On that note,we have had several customers interested in purchasing second
water meters to avoid other unnecessary sewer charges. I believe that this summer will be
much more pleasant for everyone now that we will be implementing this summer usage
policy.
WASTEWATER:
May 15'',Mike Rude and I went over some ideas for Capital Improvement
Planning. He put together a very nice layout of a potential plan. I will need to go over it
some more and decide how to prioritize everything and figure out just how soon we
would lice to have each item completed. We will also need to put together some ideas on
how to pay for it all. This will take some time, but with Mike and Tim's help,we can get
it moving.
May 17th,Dave and Larry with Electric Pump Co. installed an Omni-Site alarm
system on L.S.#3 at Brown and Heath St.They were in the area and had time for that
one,and they will install one on L.S. #1 by UBC the next time around.
May 22"`i,I attended a Spray Irrigation Refresher Class in Rochester, which was
given by the MPCA.Another very informative class, but I didn't really care for the
location. They pointed out that they're a state agency and had to go with the lowest bid! I
guess we all understand how that goes. I learned about how to get the most out of
irrigating, when and how often one should irrigate, and the various tools that are available
to know how well the soil and crop are doing.
