r equot Lakes Community Library <br /> Minutes of the Board Meeting <br /> May 14, 2007 <br /> The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m.by President Nancy Adams. Members <br /> present: Nancy Adams, David Anderson, Sam Hennes, John Longnecker,Lydia Loven, <br /> and Claire Nagel. Absent: Ann Hutchings. There were no visitors. <br /> Claire Nagel moved,Dave Anderson seconded,that the minutes be accepted as <br /> printed. Motion carried. They were not e-mailed early last month in order to keep the <br /> May Baskets a surprise to those who volunteered at the Library. <br /> Dave Anderson gave the Treasurer's Report: Checking account=$6,219.71; <br /> Endowment Certificates(4)=$50,764.18; Rainy Day Certificate=$10,089.76;Building <br /> Expansion Certificate=$10,000; Savings Account=$3,013.72; for a total of$80,087.37 <br /> Nancy Adams moved, Sam Hennes seconded,to accept the Treasurer's Report. <br /> Committee Reports: Volunteers are steady and everyone is waiting for summer <br /> volunteers to return. The Summer Reading Program is organized and ready to begin on <br /> June 27d. Fliers have been given to all children in the schools ages 3 —6`h grade. Claire <br /> Nagel's report for the Echo is done for the last Thursday of the month. Nancy sent <br /> information to the Brainerd Dispatch for the May Discoveries page. $2,500 has been <br /> received from the Initiative Foundation for support of the Summer Reading Program; <br /> Libri Foundation materials should be arriving shortly; and Nancy prepared a proposal for <br /> the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe that will be sent in shortly. <br /> Old Business: Mrs. Collins 2/3 class enjoyed their visit to the Library and donated <br /> quite a number of books. The Kindergarten classes have not responded, so no more <br /> contact has been made. John Longnecker reported that the web site development is going <br /> well and should be up and running before too long. Claire Nagel presented the museum <br /> bookmarks that she and Ann Hutchings developed. They will be in the library shortly. <br /> There has been excellent response of appreciation by volunteers to the May Baskets that <br /> Nancy Adams and John Longnecker delivered on May 1. The card attached said the gift <br /> was with thanks from Nancy,Donna,and the Board. Nancy Adams took all Board <br /> Members on a tour of the library to show the overcrowding and to examine the back <br /> room. Representatives from Wildsmith Knowlting are looking to see what can be done <br /> by way of expansion,understanding that the Clerk's Office needs storage space. They <br /> will be presenting a possible proposal shortly. <br /> New Business: There was no new business. <br /> Dave Anderson moved,Lydia Loven seconded,that the meeting be adjourned at 7:25 <br /> p.m. <br /> NEXT MEETING WILL BE TUESDAY,JUNE 19,2007 AT 6:30 P.M. <br />
