r equot Lakes Community Library Minutes of the Board Meeting May 14, 2007 The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m.by President Nancy Adams. Members present: Nancy Adams, David Anderson, Sam Hennes, John Longnecker,Lydia Loven, and Claire Nagel. Absent: Ann Hutchings. There were no visitors. Claire Nagel moved,Dave Anderson seconded,that the minutes be accepted as printed. Motion carried. They were not e-mailed early last month in order to keep the May Baskets a surprise to those who volunteered at the Library. Dave Anderson gave the Treasurer's Report: Checking account=$6,219.71; Endowment Certificates(4)=$50,764.18; Rainy Day Certificate=$10,089.76;Building Expansion Certificate=$10,000; Savings Account=$3,013.72; for a total of$80,087.37 Nancy Adams moved, Sam Hennes seconded,to accept the Treasurer's Report. Committee Reports: Volunteers are steady and everyone is waiting for summer volunteers to return. The Summer Reading Program is organized and ready to begin on June 27d. Fliers have been given to all children in the schools ages 3 —6`h grade. Claire Nagel's report for the Echo is done for the last Thursday of the month. Nancy sent information to the Brainerd Dispatch for the May Discoveries page. $2,500 has been received from the Initiative Foundation for support of the Summer Reading Program; Libri Foundation materials should be arriving shortly; and Nancy prepared a proposal for the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe that will be sent in shortly. Old Business: Mrs. Collins 2/3 class enjoyed their visit to the Library and donated quite a number of books. The Kindergarten classes have not responded, so no more contact has been made. John Longnecker reported that the web site development is going well and should be up and running before too long. Claire Nagel presented the museum bookmarks that she and Ann Hutchings developed. They will be in the library shortly. There has been excellent response of appreciation by volunteers to the May Baskets that Nancy Adams and John Longnecker delivered on May 1. The card attached said the gift was with thanks from Nancy,Donna,and the Board. Nancy Adams took all Board Members on a tour of the library to show the overcrowding and to examine the back room. Representatives from Wildsmith Knowlting are looking to see what can be done by way of expansion,understanding that the Clerk's Office needs storage space. They will be presenting a possible proposal shortly. New Business: There was no new business. Dave Anderson moved,Lydia Loven seconded,that the meeting be adjourned at 7:25 p.m. NEXT MEETING WILL BE TUESDAY,JUNE 19,2007 AT 6:30 P.M.
