City of _�'e uot q Lakes - � October 2, 2012 Cathy Malecha 30966 Old Highway 371, #204 Pequot Lakes, MN 56472 Dear Cathy, On behalf of the City Council of Pequot Lakes, Minnesota, we wish to acknowledge the contributions that you have made to the community and the City. These accomplishments have been too numerous to list them all. For the Citv: From 1997 - 2002, you served as Sibley Township Clerk. In this capacity, you were instrumental in building the Sibley Town Hall, creating a Planning and Zoning Department, and working with others to merge the Township with the City itself. From January, 2003 - December, 2008, you served as Mayor of Pequot Lakes. You were active in creating a Parks Commission that worked to revitalize existing City parks and in building new parks. You were instrumental in writing the grant to improve the Cole Memorial Building ensuring that it remained in its original state. From January, 2009 - July, 2012, you served as an elected member of the Pequot Lakes City Council. During your tenure as Council Member you were the liaison to the Park Board, the Fire Department and the City Clerk's Office. Also during this time, you developed and coordinated the Bands in the Park program which is a very successful program to date. For the Communitv: You were instrumental in creating the first ever Grad Blast Event for PLHS Seniors and were on the Steering Committee in 1990-1991. You were President of the Pequot Lakes Historical Society for five years. In 2005, you were nominated Pequot Lakes Citizen of the Year. Over the years, you were the owner and operator of two businesses in Pequot Lakes; Lake Region Grocery and Country Corner. You were the sole activator of the revitalization of the Jack Pine Center in 2010; a building �„ which is now full of businesses.
