City of <br />_�'e uot <br />q <br />Lakes - <br />� <br />October 2, 2012 <br />Cathy Malecha <br />30966 Old Highway 371, #204 <br />Pequot Lakes, MN 56472 <br />Dear Cathy, <br />On behalf of the City Council of Pequot Lakes, Minnesota, we wish to acknowledge the <br />contributions that you have made to the community and the City. These accomplishments <br />have been too numerous to list them all. <br />For the Citv: <br />From 1997 - 2002, you served as Sibley Township Clerk. In this capacity, you were <br />instrumental in building the Sibley Town Hall, creating a Planning and Zoning Department, <br />and working with others to merge the Township with the City itself. <br />From January, 2003 - December, 2008, you served as Mayor of Pequot Lakes. You were <br />active in creating a Parks Commission that worked to revitalize existing City parks and in <br />building new parks. You were instrumental in writing the grant to improve the Cole <br />Memorial Building ensuring that it remained in its original state. <br />From January, 2009 - July, 2012, you served as an elected member of the Pequot Lakes City <br />Council. During your tenure as Council Member you were the liaison to the Park Board, the <br />Fire Department and the City Clerk's Office. Also during this time, you developed and <br />coordinated the Bands in the Park program which is a very successful program to date. <br />For the Communitv: <br />You were instrumental in creating the first ever Grad Blast Event for PLHS Seniors and were <br />on the Steering Committee in 1990-1991. <br />You were President of the Pequot Lakes Historical Society for five years. <br />In 2005, you were nominated Pequot Lakes Citizen of the Year. <br />Over the years, you were the owner and operator of two businesses in Pequot Lakes; Lake <br />Region Grocery and Country Corner. <br />You were the sole activator of the revitalization of the Jack Pine Center in 2010; a building <br />�„ which is now full of businesses. <br />
