CITY OF PEQUOT LAKES MONTHLY WATER/WASTEWATER REPORT APRIL 2007 `.. Prepared by: Tina Nolden(Water/WW Manager) WATERPLANT: All is working well at the Plant. I had Eric with Larsco Co. come up on April 23rd to rebuild the rotometer on one of our Chlorine cylinders. It needed a new diaphragm and some o-rings. I was able to watch while he worked on it,so next time I can take care of it myself. I just need to get the spare parts. I'm working on our Vulnerability Assessment for the Plant and it's almost complete. April 1611,Mike and Kurt helped seal a few cracks that were in the roof of the Water Plant. I haven't noticed any more leaks now. WATER DISTRIBUTION: I attended a class at SCTC on fire hydrants and water meters on April 2'4 and P. I learned how to maintain and repair hydrants and meters. It was a very informative class. It's also a good way to get to know others in the water/wastewater field and get some good advice. I'm working on getting extensions on curb-boxes so I can have an easier time turning customers' water on/off. April 191',Tom's Backhoe installed a meter pit at Tom Staley's Apartment Building on Olson Street. We were having troubles with delinquent accounts and felt his apartment bldg. should be like all the others in town so that their billing isn't so difficult and time consuming. I also discovered on April 161i that we have the same issues with the Wooddale Apt. Bldgs.on Rae Ave. For many years now they have only been metering two units when they have eight, four in each bldg. Jeanyne found this error while doing a history report. Two different months there was no usage at either bldg. Only two units were vacant at those times. The other six just weren't being metered. Since our discovery,we are now charging the unmetered rate for two, four-unit apt.bldgs. Eventually,these will also need meter pits installed to account for all water being used.Jeanyne has been putting in a lot of time and effort in getting all of the water/sewer billing issues resolved. Some day soon everything will go very smoothly. WASTEWATER: April 5"', Lance and I flushed MH#'s 43, 73 and 22. 1 added root killer to#73 and enzymes to#22. These are low-flow,problem areas that just need a little extra attention. April 9h, I had Infratech clean three of our lift stations. Two of them had terrible grease build-up and the one at Industrial Park needed some sand and rock sucked out.Now I have a fresh start and can keep them maintained. I attended an MWOA meeting in Paynesville on April I01i. This helps keep my wastewater license updated. I'm working with Electric Pump on getting two more Omni-Site Alarms on our lift stations. We need to have these in order to continue with our"No-Fault Sewer Back-Up Coverage." OTHER: April 19"', I sold our lawn mower! Tom Jensen with Rothsay School District purchased it for$4,950.00.This money will be put back into our water/sewer budget.
