Nancy Adams moved, Sam Hennes
seconded, that the Treasurer's Report be accepted. Motion carried We want to note that
Ann Hutchings is pleased to continue doing the petty cash on a weekly basis. The Board
is grateful for her work.
Committee Reports: Volunteers continue to be good, with summer people returning
shortly. The Summer Reading program for ages 3 yrs. through 6`h grade received$1,500
from the Initiative Foundation to fund the program. There will be three educational
programs as part of this program. Publicity continues to go well. We want to be sure
information about all programs gets into the Discovery Page in the Brainerd Dispatch on
a timely basis. The Youth As Resources grant to fund the Libri Grant is on hold until
they receive their funding but the Libri Grant has been sent in with credit to YAR.
Old Business: Dave Anderson and Donna Collins, 2/3 multi-age teacher, are selecting
a date and coordinating a visit for that class to bring 3 boxes of books they collected. The
library will pay a minimal amount for the bus and will serve treats. Nancy Adams will
check with Glenda Schmidt to see if a clown might be available. Ann Hutching and
Nancy Adams have both contacted Eagle View School regarding kindergarten visits. No
response has been received. John Longnecker was not at the meeting to report on the
web site although it is understood that progress is being made. Nancy Adams represented
the library at the Tot Expo on April 14,2007. Ann Hutchings presented a prototype of
the Museum Information Bookmark that she and Claire Nagel designed. Everyone
present was highly complementary. Sam Henries moved,Nancy Adams seconded, that
Ann and Claire make these bookmarks available for the patrons. Early Childhood
Coalition book bags are complete and will be ready for delivery starting the first week of
May.
New Business: It is noted that the library is truly out of its existing space. Donna
Olson and Nancy Adams will work to inventory and thin out the collection but, down the
line, we must approach the city for use/expansion into the back room. A gift for library
volunteers was discussed. Dave Anderson moved,Nancy Adams seconded, that 30 May
Baskets be purchased from the Methodist Church Women to be given as a thank you.
Motion carried.
NEXT MEETING WILL BE TUESDAY,MAY 15,2007 AT 6:30 P.M.
